Updated 23 October 2026. We re-read the latest Deccan Herald reports on the Pink Line safety inspection and compliance (16 October) and the minister's review of both lines (22 October), and checked the Yellow Line fleet position. Our earlier line-by-line guides explain stations and routes; this page tracks only what changed this month and what a buyer should take from it.
Has the Pink Line opened?
Not yet. The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS, Southern Circle), V Venkatasubramanian, inspected the elevated line from 6 to 8 October and raised 36 observations, including missing fire-safety arrangements, malfunctioning lifts, damaged electrical earthing and unresolved train-testing issues (Deccan Herald, 16 October 2026). BMRCL filed compliance on all 36 on 15 October (Deccan Herald, 16 October 2026).
On 22 October, Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said official clearance was expected within four to five days, and that despite a letter from the Chief Minister the state had received no written or verbal confirmation of an inauguration date from the Centre (Deccan Herald, 22 October 2026). Opening therefore depends on two things: the CMRS authorisation, and an inauguration slot.
Which stations open first on the Pink Line?
- Six elevated stations along Bannerghatta Road: Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIM Bangalore, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital and Tavarekere (Deccan Herald, October 2026).
- Jayadeva Hospital is the interchange with the operating Yellow Line (Deccan Herald).
- BMRCL plans to run up to six trains, at a six-minute peak and ten-minute off-peak frequency (Deccan Herald, 16 October 2026).
- The 13.8 km underground section, Dairy Circle to Nagawara, is a separate later phase; Wikipedia's line page lists it as 'March 2027 (TBC)'. Our station-by-station guide: Pink Line Underground: 12 Stations, Trials, March 2027 Target.
When does the Blue Line (Silk Board–KR Puram) open?
The trial run between KR Puram and Marathahalli is expected to begin by the end of October, but the entire stretch up to Central Silk Board is scheduled to be ready only by mid-2027, and trains will be run progressively along the Outer Ring Road as stations are commissioned (Deccan Herald, 22 October 2026). The KR Puram–Silk Board stretch is 19.75 km (Deccan Herald).
This confirms the shift first reported in August, when a BMRCL official said commercial operation within 2026 was 'not feasible' and the deadline would move to 2027, citing pending work at Marathahalli and Central Silk Board and the depot link at Baiyappanahalli (Swarajya, citing The Times of India, 16 August 2026).
- Stations on this stretch (Wikipedia, Blue Line): Central Silk Board, HSR Layout, Agara, Ibbalur, Bellandur, Devarabeesanahalli, Kadubeesanahalli, Marathahalli, ISRO, Doddanekundi, DRDO Sports Complex, Saraswathi Nagar and KR Puram.

What about the airport metro line?
The minister directed officials to speed up the 38.44 km KR Puram–Hebbal–Kempegowda International Airport stretch, with Namma Metro promising to start operations by November 2027 (Deccan Herald, 22 October 2026). During the same inspection he found the Outer Ring Road service road between Hebbal and Kasturi Nagar in poor shape, and officials cited Cauvery pipelines and underground drainage lines, especially between Veerannapalya and Hebbal, as reasons for slow work (Deccan Herald). Yellow Line and Phase 3: anything new?
- Yellow Line (RV Road–Bommasandra, 19.15 km): the 15th and final trainset from the original order arrived in July, when 13 were commissioned; frequency then was seven minutes at peak and ten off-peak, with ridership above one lakh a day (Deccan Herald, 28 July 2026). BEML is to supply six more trains from 2027 (Deccan Herald). We found no newer published frequency change; check the Namma Metro app before relying on a timetable. Timings guide: Yellow Line Metro Timings 2026: First, Last Train, Frequency.
- Phase 3 (Orange line): the land-acquisition notice of 16 October is covered in Namma Metro Phase 3 Land Acquisition: The 16 Oct 2026 Notice. There is no operating date to report.
What this means if you are buying near these lines
- Bannerghatta Road (Pink Line elevated): the line is weeks, not years, from service. Expect sellers near Hulimavu, IIMB and JP Nagar 4th Phase to quote the opening; compare with registered sale prices, not asking prices. Homes: Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore.
- Outer Ring Road (Blue Line): a trial run is not a passenger service. For a 2026–27 decision, assume the Silk Board end opens in mid-2027 at the earliest, as officials now say. Homes: Bellandur, Bangalore, Marathahalli, Bangalore, Hsr Layout, Bangalore.
- Hebbal to airport (Blue Line 2B): plan on the November 2027 target as a best case. Homes: Hebbal, Bangalore, Yelahanka, Bangalore, Devanahalli, Bangalore.
