Updated 20 October 2026. We re-read the MD's latest statement and the Deccan Herald reports on the stations and trains. Pages that rank today still say trials will start in October; this one carries the November trial target, both dates the government has given for opening, all 13 stations in order with their status, and the homes near each part of the corridor.

When will the Silk Board–KR Puram metro open?

Three dates are in circulation. In June, minister Krishna Byre Gowda said trials would start in October 2026 in two stretches, KR Puram–Marathahalli and Marathahalli–HSR Layout (Deccan Herald, 19 August 2026), and he had earlier announced March 2027 for opening. In October, BMRCL's MD moved the trial target to 15 November and gave May 2027 for passenger service (Oneindia, 19 October 2026). A December 2027 date appears on Wikipedia but not in any BMRCL statement we found.

The MD's statement is the most recent official one, so May 2027 is the current target. It depends on testing and safety clearance, including a CMRS inspection like the one the Pink Line has just gone through.

Where the work stands in October 2026

  • Civil work: 'We have completed all works except signalling,' the MD said; about 2 km of track remains to be laid (Oneindia, 19 October 2026).
  • Stations: BMRCL plans to finish every station except Central Silk Board by November (same report).
  • Trains: BEML has delivered two trainsets, enough for trials (same report). Of 53 trains ordered, 16 are for Phase 2A (Deccan Herald, 11 April 2026).
  • Signalling: integration of signalling with the trains is the main remaining task (Oneindia, 19 October 2026).
  • Silk Board: beyond the station the viaduct runs 413.8 m over the BDA flyover towards BTM Layout so trains can turn back; that work was still under way in August (Deccan Herald, 19 August 2026).
  • Contractors: Afcons built Silk Board–Kodibeesanahalli and Shankaranarayana Constructions built Kodibeesanahalli–KR Puram; both contracts were awarded in May 2021 (Wikipedia).

Is Silk Board on the Blue Line? Changing to the Yellow Line

Yes. Central Silk Board is the western end of the Blue Line and a station on the Yellow Line, which is already running to Electronic City. The two will be joined by an elevated travelator. That contract went to Milan Road Buildtech on 14 August 2026 for ₹55.48 crore with a nine-month schedule, so it will not be ready for a May 2027 opening, and passengers may at first have to leave one station and walk to the other to change lines (Deccan Herald, 19 August 2026).

How Phase 2A fits the full Blue Line to the airport

Phase 2A is the first part of a 58.19 km Blue Line. Phase 2B continues from KR Puram to Kempegowda International Airport with 16 more stations, from Kasturi Nagar to the airport terminals (Wikipedia, 29 September 2026). What it means for homes near the line

The corridor runs through the city's busiest office belt. The localities are HSR Layout, Agara, Ibbalur, Bellandur, Devarabisanahalli, Kadubeesanahalli, Marathahalli, Doddanekundi, Mahadevapura and KR Puram. Most large tech parks on this stretch sit within a short walk of a station, so the main change for residents is a train ride along the ORR instead of a road commute.

A home within about 800 m to 1 km of a station is roughly a 10–12 minute walk. Many housing societies on this stretch sit a little back from the ORR, behind Sarjapur Road, Varthur Road or Panathur Road; for these, the drive or auto ride to the station is the real commute. Until the travelator at Silk Board is ready, trips towards Electronic City will need a short walk between stations.

We make no forecast about prices. Weigh the commute you will actually make.
