Which part of the Porur belt fits your budget

The metro is open: what it covers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Poonamallee Bypass–Vadapalani stretch on 11 October 2026 (Deccan Herald). The 14.64 km elevated line has 11 stations in service, including Iyyappanthangal, Thelliyaragaram, Porur Bypass and Porur Junction, and joins the existing network at Vadapalani. From 12 October trains run 7 am to 9 pm, every 10 minutes at weekday peaks and 15 minutes otherwise, with fares of ₹10 to ₹40 (DT Next).

The stations between Porur and Vadapalani, including Alapakkam and Valasaravakkam, open later; Wikipedia's Yellow Line page shows November 2026 for them. The Red Line (Corridor 5) through Ramapuram and Manapakkam is not open and has no announced passenger date. Porur Lake and drainage

Porur takes its name from a 200-acre lake. Citizen Matters (16 December 2025) reports recurring inundation west of the lake, attributing it to missing stormwater-drain connections and to the Chennai–Maduravoyal Bypass obstructing the natural flow of floodwater. Ask how the specific street fared in the last two monsoons, and check the plot's distance from the lake and its channels. Approvals to check before you book

• TNRERA registration and the registered completion date on rera.tn.gov.in; where it differs from the brochure, the register governs.
• CMDA or DTCP approval for the exact survey number; Kundrathur and Mangadu sit further out, so confirm which authority approved the plan.
