How we work

Editorial standards.

Buying a home is one of the largest decisions a family makes. Our guides are written to be checked, not trusted blindly: every figure has a named source and a date, and where no reliable figure exists we say so.

Every number has a source

Prices, growth rates, rental yields, circle and guidance values, metro dates and fees are quoted with the publisher and the date they refer to, for example a consultancy report, a government notification or a named newspaper.

Where we work out a figure ourselves, such as stamp duty on an example price, we say it is our own arithmetic on a sourced number.

Blanks rather than guesses

If no reliable published figure exists for an area, the page says so and leaves the figure out. We would rather show nothing than an estimate dressed up as data.

Official records first

Where an official record exists, we go to it: RERA registers, district collector rate lists, the stamps and registration department's gazettes, and state land-record portals. Tables built from these records link to the exact document, and where possible the exact page.

What we say about builders

We publish recognition, not accusations. Our delivery lists name only builders who clear a stated bar on official completion records. We do not publish rankings of delays or lists of builders who fall short.

Reported is not confirmed

Infrastructure dates, fares and scheme deadlines often appear in the press before any official notice. We label these as reported, name who reported them, and update the page when an authority confirms or changes them.

Point in time, and kept current

Property rules and prices change. Each guide carries the date it was compiled, and we revise guides when a rule, rate or timeline they cover changes.

Corrections

If you find an error, tell us through the contact page with the page address and what is wrong. We check it against the source, fix it promptly, and update the page date.

Not advice

Our guides explain how things work and what the records show. They are not legal, tax or investment advice. Confirm fees, approvals and title with the relevant authority or a qualified professional before you transact.
