Updated 20 October 2026. We re-read the Construction World, Deccan Herald and Inshorts reports and set them side by side, because they describe the stage differently. This article goes further than what currently ranks: a station list with the status of each stop, the steps still needed before work can start, and which Old Madras Road neighbourhoods and listed homes sit near the reported stations.

Station list: all 11 proposed stations, in order

This is the reported list, not an official BMRCL alignment. We could not find a BMRCL document with the stations. Every stop below is at the same stage: proposed, no official date.

  • KR Puram · proposed · would start here; KR Puram is already on the Purple Line and is on the Blue Line now being built (Construction World, 8 Oct 2026)
  • ITI Bhavan · proposed · no official date (Construction World, 8 Oct 2026)
  • TC Palya · proposed · no official date (Construction World, 8 Oct 2026)
  • Bhattarahalli · proposed · no official date (Construction World, 8 Oct 2026)
  • Bhattarahalli Junction · proposed · no official date (Construction World, 8 Oct 2026)
  • Medahalli Junction · proposed · no official date (Construction World, 8 Oct 2026)
  • Avalahalli · proposed · no official date (Construction World, 8 Oct 2026)
  • Budigere Cross · proposed · no official date (Construction World, 8 Oct 2026)
  • Katamnallur Gate · proposed · no official date (Construction World, 8 Oct 2026)
  • Hoskote Toll Plaza · proposed · no official date (Construction World, 8 Oct 2026)
  • Hoskote Government Hospital · proposed terminus · no official date (Construction World, 8 Oct 2026)

Is the Hoskote metro sanctioned? What the sources say

Not as of 20 October 2026. The reports disagree on the stage, so we show both.

  • Feasibility stage · BMRCL is preparing the Feasibility Study Report for a 16-km KR Puram–Hoskote line, expected in a few months (Deccan Herald, 28 Sep 2026)
  • DPR stage · BMRCL has moved the link into detailed planning and is preparing a DPR for a 16.3-km, 11-station corridor (Construction World, 8 Oct 2026, also reported by Urban Acres citing Vijay Karnataka on 4 Oct 2026)
  • State nod · the Karnataka government approved the KR Puram–Hoskote extension, with a Delhi-based firm conducting the feasibility study (Inshorts, 3 Feb 2026). We read this as approval to study the line, not a construction sanction, since neither later report mentions a sanctioned cost.

What has to happen before construction

Metro lines in Bengaluru generally move from a feasibility study to a DPR, then state approval with a cost, then central approval and funding, then tenders. Deccan Herald noted on 20 October 2026 that a new Comprehensive Mobility Plan, which DULT expects to prepare in about a year, is a prerequisite for securing the Centre's approval for Namma Metro projects. Construction World itself says the outcome depends on the report, approvals, funding and construction decisions (8 October 2026).

So the honest answer to 'when will the Hoskote metro be built' is: no date has been announced, and several approvals are still ahead.

Why from KR Puram and not Whitefield?

Construction World reports the corridor is being prioritised from KR Puram rather than by extending the Purple Line directly from Kadugodi (Whitefield), and that BMRCL's financial assessment shows a 19% internal rate of return (8 October 2026). Separately, BMRCL awarded a short Purple Line extension beyond Whitefield station on 17 September 2026: 482.8 metres to Milan Road Buildtech for ₹64.82 crore, with an 18-month completion period. It adds crossovers for train reversal, no new station, and needs South Western Railway approval to cross the tracks (Deccan Herald, 28 September 2026). Construction World describes the same stretch as roughly 420 metres.

Depot, double-decker and the wider Hoskote plan

  • Depot: officials are examining land near Kodihalli for a rail depot, workshops and an operations control centre; about 80 hectares may be needed for the wider rail infrastructure (Construction World, 8 Oct 2026).
  • Double-decker: because Old Madras Road traffic could exceed 80,000 vehicles once the Satellite Town Ring Road connects to Hosur Road, a metro-over-flyover design has been proposed. It is a proposal, not a decision (Construction World, 8 Oct 2026).
  • High-speed rail: integrated stations are planned at Hoskote for the proposed Bengaluru–Chennai and Bengaluru–Hyderabad corridors (Construction World, 8 Oct 2026).
  • Road: the Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway is open between Hoskote and Baireddypalli (Construction World, 8 Oct 2026).
  • KR Puram interchange: Blue Line trial runs around KR Puram are expected from November 2026, with opening projected for May 2027 (Oneindia citing Moneycontrol, 19 Oct 2026).

What it means for homes near the line

The reported stations sit along Old Madras Road (NH-75) through Bhattarahalli, Medahalli, Avalahalli, Budigere Cross and into Hoskote. Two stops map directly to areas where we list homes: Bhattarahalli and Budigere Cross. Because the alignment is not final, exact walking distances cannot be measured yet. As a rule of thumb, a home within about 1 km of a station is walkable; 1–3 km usually means a short auto or feeder ride.

For buying decisions today, treat the metro as a possibility, not a fact. What exists now is the Purple Line at KR Puram and Whitefield, the Blue Line under construction to KR Puram, and Old Madras Road itself. The Traffic Police have also proposed a flyover or underpass at Bhattarahalli near KR Puram (Deccan Herald, 11 September 2026). We make no prediction on prices. If a brochure gives a metro date, ask for the official document behind it.
