Updated 23 October 2026. 'Iyyappanthangal metro' is the most-searched station on this line, so we pulled together what is confirmed about this one stop: the new timetable, the fare slab, the bus link, what MTC's 9 October trip counts show and which homes on our listings sit in the station's catchment. Our wider Iyyappanthangal locality guide is at Iyyappanthangal, Chennai: Buyer's Guide 2026 — Prices, Metro Phase 2, Projects and Risks
Where is Iyyappanthangal metro station?
The station is on the elevated Poonamallee–Porur stretch of Corridor 4, seventh from the Poonamallee end. Kattupakkam is the stop to the west and Thelliyaragaram, the stop for Sri Ramachandra Medical College, is to the east (DT Next station list, 12 October 2026; Wikipedia's Yellow Line station table, accessed 23 October 2026).
Wikipedia's station table lists it with an island platform and as a bus interchange with the Iyyappanthangal Bus Terminus. Treat that as a guide, not CMRL's word: we did not find a CMRL station page with entry and exit details. The spelling varies too. DT Next writes 'Iyappanthangal', Wikipedia 'Iyyapanthangal' and Live Chennai 'Ayyappanthangal'; it is the same stop.
Iyyappanthangal metro timings from 23 October
- First train: 6 am, an hour earlier than the 7 am start of the opening fortnight (DT Next, 21 October 2026; Deccan Chronicle, 22 October 2026).
- Last train: 9 pm from both Poonamallee Bypass and Vadapalani, so the last train through Iyyappanthangal passes a little after that in each direction.
- Monday–Saturday, 8–11 am and 5–8 pm: every 10 minutes.
- Other hours, including 6–8 am, and all day on Sundays and public holidays: every 15 minutes.
- Not granted yet: passengers asked for 6–7 minute peak gaps and an 11 pm last train; Metro Rail News (22 October 2026) reports the requests but not any decision on them.
What is the fare from Iyyappanthangal?
Fares were fixed in four slabs of ₹10 to ₹40 before the inauguration (DT Next, 29 September 2026). From Poonamallee Bypass, the ₹30 slab covers Iyyappanthangal and the stations towards Porur, and the full run to Vadapalani is ₹40. The report gives the slabs from the Poonamallee end only; for a trip that starts at Iyyappanthangal, use CMRL's fare chart or app before you budget a daily commute.
How does Iyyappanthangal connect to buses?
Well. In MTC's count of bus trips serving each Yellow Line station, Iyyappanthangal has 2,522 trips. That is less than Poonamallee Bus Terminus (5,155) or Porur (3,320) but more than Kattupakkam (1,737) or Vadapalani (1,130) (DT Next, 9 October 2026). MTC's managing director said bus-stop locations have been marked at each station, and that MTC and CMRL will jointly look at extra feeder services and dedicated bus stops at stations, based on passenger feedback.
In practice: if your home is 1.5–3 km from the station, a bus to the terminus and the metro onward is a realistic commute. More on every station's bus links and parking: Chennai Metro Feeder Buses & Parking: Yellow Line, Station-Wise
Is there parking at Iyyappanthangal metro station?
We could not confirm any. No report we opened lists parking at this station, and CMRL's position in July 2026 was that parking would be added 'as per the demands' after commercial operations began (DT Next, 28 July 2026). Assume you will walk, take a bus or be dropped off until CMRL says otherwise.
Where can you go from Iyyappanthangal?

What this means if you are buying near Iyyappanthangal
- The station is open, so 'metro coming' is no longer a promise here. Judge a flat on the actual walk to the station entrance at 8.30 am, not on the distance to the viaduct.
- The strong bus link widens the catchment. A flat 2 km away with a direct bus to the terminus can be as practical as one 800 m away along a busy road with no footpath.
- Ask about viaduct noise and the view for flats facing Mount–Poonamallee Road, especially on lower floors.
- For a ready flat, compare rents and resale asks within 1 km of the station with those 2–3 km away; that gap is what the market is paying for the station.
