Kadugodi is a suburb in Whitefield, under BBMP Ward 83 with postal code 560067, according to Wikipedia. Its history is long (the earliest evidence comes from a 1030 AD inscription during Rajendra Chola I's rule) and its modern identity rests on two things: Sri Sathya Sai Baba's Brindavan ashram, founded in 1960 with colleges and a hospital added later, and the Purple Line terminus that opened in 2023.

Hope Farm, Channasandra and Kadugodi are often used interchangeably in listings. They sit along the same eastern edge of Whitefield and share the same metro line, the same Whitefield-Hoskote and Whitefield-Sarjapur road links and much of the same buyer logic.

Metro: the live line

Per the Wikipedia Purple Line station list, the eastern section runs: Whitefield (Kadugodi) terminus, Hopefarm Channasandra, Kadugodi Tree Park, Pattandur Agrahara, Sri Sathya Sai Hospital, Nallurhalli, Kundalahalli, Seetharampalya, Hoodi, Garudacharpalya, Singayyanapalya, Krishnarajapura, Benniganahalli and Baiyappanahalli. The Krishnarajapura-Whitefield (Kadugodi) section opened on 26 March 2023, and the Baiyappanahalli-Krishnarajapura link on 9 October 2023, so there is now a single line from Whitefield to Challaghatta. Wikipedia's Kadugodi page notes the station was inaugurated on 25 March 2023.

The Metro Rail Guy reported a short extension of the Purple Line past Whitefield, across the Bengaluru-Chennai railway line and up to Belathur Colony on Whitefield-Hoskote Road (a 588 m stretch in the contract it described). Beyond that, BMRCL's KR Pura-Hoskote double-decker idea (Swarajya, 29 January 2026) is a feasibility study only.

Prices and rent

HomeBazaar's locality table (22 May 2026) puts Kadugodi at about ₹9,300 per sq ft, the lowest of the Whitefield-belt localities in that table (Hoodi was about ₹15,550 and Mahadevapura about ₹14,800), as an indicative asking average. That gap reflects distance from ITPL and the ORR. Property Point's listed new launches sit well above the local average, as below. For rent, we found no dated figure specific to Kadugodi; Sobha's East Bengaluru guide cites about 3% yield for the wider Whitefield-Hoskote belt, so assume conservative returns.

Projects listed on Property Point

  • Mahindra Blossom, Hopefarm Channasandra: 1, 2, 3 and 4 BHK at ₹1 Cr - ₹3.92 Cr, listed as a new launch.
  • Prestige Lavender Fields, Channasandra: 1, 2 and 3 BHK at ₹68 L - ₹1.72 Cr, possession shown as June 2027.
  • Godrej Splendour, Belathur: 1, 2 and 3 BHK at ₹60 L - ₹1.5 Cr, under construction.
  • Provident Capella and Provident Botanico, Soukya Road, Whitefield: Provident Capella (₹52 L - ₹1.15 Cr) is listed ready to move; Botanico is under construction at ₹89.9 L - ₹1.67 Cr.

Schools, hospitals, daily life

The Sri Sathya Sai Baba ecosystem, with its colleges and a hospital, is the area's most visible institution, and the Purple Line has a station named for the hospital. Hope Farm Junction connects Kadugodi to the broader Whitefield road network and BMTC buses. Whitefield railway station, one of the oldest in Bangalore, is also here. For malls, hospitals and schools beyond the immediate neighbourhood, Whitefield's main hub, ITPL and Hoodi are 10-20 minutes by metro or road.

Pros

  • A Purple Line terminus: one-seat access to ITPL-side stations, KR Puram and the central city.
  • Lower per-sq-ft prices than ITPL, Hoodi or Marathahalli.
  • A range of branded, large-format projects at accessible entry prices.

Cons and risks

  • Terminus effects: at an end-of-line station, seat availability in the peak direction is worth testing by riding it at rush hour.
  • Last-mile: many projects are 2-5 km from the station, so check the shuttle and auto availability.
  • Traffic on Whitefield Main Road and Hope Farm Junction is heavy at peak hours.
  • Water: the OpenCity 2025 survey found highest tanker rates in the Whitefield area, even as Cauvery Stage V extended to parts of Whitefield. Ask each project for its water plan.
  • Legal: Kadugodi has older village-origin land; check title chains, khata type and e-khata, and note that Karnataka's B-khata regularisation covers registrations on or before 30 September 2024 only (The Realty Today, July 2025).
  • Supply: heavy launches in Whitefield and beyond may slow resale appreciation.

Due diligence checklist

  • Measure the actual route from the project gate to the station at morning and evening peaks.
  • Check the developer's delivery record on earlier phases and read the latest RERA quarterly update.
  • Ask for the BWSSB and borewell sanction letters and the STP design capacity.
  • Review the payment plan: construction-linked plans reduce your exposure to delays.

Payment plan and timing points

  • Compare the possession dates on Property Point's listings, from June 2027 for Prestige Lavender Fields onwards, with your rental or move-in timeline.
  • Ask whether the plan is construction-linked or time-linked and what the developer's delay clause says.
  • Check how the developer plans to link residents to the station: shuttle, covered walkway or only public transport.
  • Look at resale in nearby completed projects to understand how the market values station proximity.

Who it suits, and our verdict

Kadugodi and Hope Farm suit first-time buyers and families who want a metro-linked address within a mid-range budget, and who accept a longer last-mile than at Hoodi or ITPL. They suit investors poorly, given modest rent levels and big supply.

Our view: one of the more rational East Bengaluru entry points because the metro is already running. Compare a Hope Farm launch with resale stock around Hoodi and Kundalahalli, where you may get a shorter walk for a higher price per square foot.
