Hoodi is a residential and commercial locality on the Whitefield-ITPL main road, about 2 km from International Tech Park, according to MyGate's neighbourhood page, and about 14.8 km from Bangalore City Station. Unlike most of East Bengaluru's growth pockets, it has an operating metro station on the Purple Line, which makes it one of the few places in this batch where rail connectivity is a present fact rather than a plan.

That is the case for Hoodi. The case against it is that it is dense, traffic-heavy and priced accordingly.

Metro and roads

The Wikipedia station list for the Purple Line shows Hoodi between Seetharampalya and Garudacharpalya on the Whitefield-Baiyappanahalli section. The Krishnarajapura-Whitefield (Kadugodi) stretch opened on 26 March 2023 and the Baiyappanahalli-Krishnarajapura link on 9 October 2023, giving a single line from Whitefield through to Challaghatta.

Road access is the ITPL main road and Whitefield Road. MyGate puts the airport about 40.8 km away by road. Traffic at Hoodi Circle and the ITPL approach is a daily problem for drivers, so being near the station matters more than being near the road.

Prices

HomeBazaar's locality table (22 May 2026) puts Hoodi at about ₹15,550 per sq ft, indicative asking, the highest of the East Bengaluru localities in that table. The Housing.com listing for Embassy East Avenue in Hoodi showed asking rates around ₹24,000 per sq ft in a search snippet we reviewed, a reminder that new branded launches sit far above the locality average. We have not independently verified that listing, so check the current price sheet.

Hoodi's older apartments and villa-style buildings on the interior roads can sit well below the main-road launches. As with the rest of this batch, compare the building's age, floor and carpet area, not just the headline rate.

Schools, hospitals, shopping

MyGate lists Deens Academy, Vydehi School of Excellence and Gopalan National School for education, and Manipal Hospital Whitefield, Cloudnine, Aster Whitefield and Narayana Multispeciality Whitefield for healthcare. Sri Sathya Sai Hospital is itself a Purple Line station further toward Kadugodi. For shopping, Forum Shantiniketan is the nearest large mall, and Phoenix Marketcity is a short drive in Mahadevapura.

Projects

Property Point does not currently list a Hoodi-specific project. Names that appear in public descriptions and listings of the area include Prestige Shantiniketan, a large township near Hoodi, and Embassy East Avenue (Housing.com). For Whitefield-side launches reachable from Hoodi, browse our Whitefield page.

Rent and yield

We could not find a reliable, dated rent figure specific to Hoodi. The wider Whitefield belt is cited at about 3% rental yield in Sobha's East Bengaluru guide, and Bengaluru's yields generally sit in low single digits. For a Hoodi purchase, treat rent as a partial offset to the EMI and ask for registered lease values in the building.

Pros

  • A working metro station on the Purple Line, with direct access to Whitefield (Kadugodi) and, via Baiyappanahalli, the city.
  • 2 km from ITPL, so many commutes are short.
  • Mature social infrastructure, with several major hospitals and schools within a few kilometres.

Cons and risks

  • Price: the locality sits above most of East Bengaluru's per-sq-ft averages.
  • Traffic: the ITPL road, Hoodi Circle and Whitefield Main Road are congested at peak hours.
  • Drains: Mahadevapura zone, which covers parts of this belt, led the city for stormwater-drain encroachment cases after the 2022 floods (Citizen Matters). Ask about waterlogging on your street.
  • Water: the OpenCity 2025 survey found highest tanker rates in the Whitefield area of East Bengaluru, though Stage V had reached parts of Whitefield. Check the building's source.
  • Khata and title in older buildings: confirm A-khata or e-khata and the conversion order.

Due diligence checklist for Hoodi

  • Measure the walking route from the building to Hoodi station; a one-kilometre walk on broken pavement is not the same as a station-adjacent address.
  • Ask for the occupancy certificate, A-khata or e-khata, the encumbrance certificate for the last 30 years and, for apartments, the approved plan and fire clearance.
  • Check the carpet area in writing. Many Hoodi listings quote super built-up area, which can overstate usable space by a meaningful margin.
  • Visit at 9 am and 6 pm on a weekday, and after a heavy rain if you can, to see traffic and drainage in real conditions.
  • Compare asking prices with at least three recent registrations in the same building or street before negotiating.

Paying for the station: how to judge the premium

  • A metro-adjacent premium is real but it should be measurable. Compare the price per sq ft of buildings within 500 m of Hoodi station with similar buildings 2-3 km away.
  • Ask for the building's maintenance and parking policy; dense streets can mean limited visitor parking.
  • Check traffic on the ITPL road at peak hour before relying on a car commute.
  • If you are buying to rent, ask neighbours and brokers what tenants actually pay for the exact unit type, and confirm with registered lease agreements.

Who it suits, and our verdict

Hoodi suits ITPL and Whitefield professionals who want to commute by metro or a very short drive, and families who prefer an established neighbourhood with schools and hospitals over a new township. It is not the cheapest way to buy into East Bengaluru and is not the place to look for large plots or lakes.

Our view: a good fit for a buyer who prizes metro access and is willing to pay for it. Walk the distance from the building to Hoodi station before you decide, because a kilometre of broken pavements changes the value of the station.
