By road, Electronic City is about 26 to 36 km from RT Nagar, Horamavu, Ramamurthy Nagar, Kammanahalli and Hennur, and took 54 to 58 minutes in light Saturday-morning traffic. Whitefield (ITPL) is much closer: 11 to 16 km and 26 to 30 minutes from every locality except RT Nagar, which is about 25 km and 45 minutes.

Updated 10 October 2026. We measured every route ourselves with the Ola Maps distance matrix at 7:47 am IST on Saturday 10 October 2026, when roads are close to their emptiest. Weekday peak-hour drives are routinely much longer, so read the minutes below as a floor, not a promise.

Why the drive times will differ for you

Three things move these numbers. First, the hour: our measurement was taken early on a Saturday, and the same roads at 9 am on a weekday are a different experience. Second, the exact start and end points: we used the locality centre points returned by Ola Maps search and a single gate at each tech park, so a home 3 km from the centre, or an office at the far end of a campus, changes the answer. Third, the route: on two of the Electronic City trips the router preferred a longer, faster road, which is why Horamavu and Ramamurthy Nagar show more kilometres than RT Nagar.

The practical advice is simple. Before you commit to a home, run the trip in a maps app at the hour you would actually leave, on two or three weekdays, and note the worst result as well as the typical one.

Can you take the metro instead?

Today, a metro trip from these localities to either tech hub involves reaching a station by road first. None of the five has an operating metro station of its own; for Kammanahalli, Wikipedia names Swami Vivekananda Road on the Purple Line as the nearest operating station.

  • To Whitefield: the Purple Line runs east through Baiyappanahalli, Krishnarajapura and Benniganahalli to Whitefield (Kadugodi), and Wikipedia lists Pattandur Agrahara as the station serving the ITPL area. The eastern stretch opened in March 2023 and the KR Puram to Baiyappanahalli link in October 2023.
  • To Electronic City: the Yellow Line, opened to the public on 11 August 2025, runs from RV Road to Delta Electronics Bommasandra and has an Electronic City station. From the north-east that means the Purple Line to Majestic, the Green Line to RV Road, then the Yellow Line south: two changes, so it suits commuters who value predictability over speed. • Coming later: the Blue Line's airport leg lists stations at Horamavu, HRBR Layout, Kalyana Nagara, HBR Layout and Kasturi Nagara, linking to KR Puram and on to Central Silk Board. Reported targets put the ORR leg in 2027 and the airport leg in 2027 to 2028, and those dates have moved before. What the numbers mean for where you buy

If your office is in Whitefield, the eastern half of this belt (Ramamurthy Nagar, Horamavu, Kammanahalli and Hennur) is a reasonable commute at under 16 km. RT Nagar, on the western side of the belt, is closer to Hebbal and the city centre than to Whitefield.

For a two-income household with offices in different hubs, the useful comparison is the combined daily distance. From Ramamurthy Nagar, for example, the two trips in our table add up to about 46 km; from RT Nagar, about 53 km. Small on a map, that difference repeats twice a day, five days a week.

If your office is in Electronic City, every locality here is a long cross-city trip. Households with one partner in Electronic City and one in the north often settle in the north for schools and family ties and accept the longer drive, or use the metro once the Blue Line connects at Silk Board.
