Which metro stations are getting parking?
Oneindia (5 October) and The Hans India (8 October) reported the station list and two-wheeler capacity from the BMRCL tender. The figures below follow Oneindia's list; the two reports differ slightly on station names.
- Nallurhalli (Purple Line, Whitefield side): 82 two-wheelers.
- Pattandur Agrahara (Purple Line, Whitefield side): 156 two-wheelers.
- Balagangadharanatha Swamiji station, Hosahalli (Purple Line, west): 186 two-wheelers.
- Madavara (Green Line, Tumakuru Road end): 328 two-wheelers.
- Chikkabidarakallu (Green Line, Tumakuru Road end): 355 two-wheelers.
- Mantri Square, Sampige Road (Green Line): 450 two-wheelers and 87 cars.
- Ragigudda (Yellow Line): 230 two-wheelers.
- BTM Layout (Yellow Line): 216 two-wheelers.
- Tavarekere (Pink Line): 155 two-wheelers.
- IIM-B (Pink Line): 55 two-wheelers in the October reports; a July 2026 tender report gave 155.
- Hulimavu (Pink Line): 155 two-wheelers.
- Kalena Agrahara (Pink Line): 110 two-wheelers.
Metro parking charges in Bangalore
The charges in the October tender reports are the same at all 12 stations:
- Two-wheelers: ₹15 for the first four hours, then ₹5 per extra hour, maximum ₹30 a day.
- Cars and jeeps: ₹30 for the first four hours, then ₹10 per extra hour, maximum ₹60 a day.
- Bicycles: free.
Worked example: monthly cost of park-and-ride
An office day is usually longer than four hours, so the daily cap matters more than the hourly rate.
- Two-wheeler parked 10 hours: ₹15 + (6 x ₹5) = ₹45, capped at ₹30. Over 22 working days: ₹30 x 22 = ₹660 a month.
- Car parked 10 hours at Mantri Square: ₹30 + (6 x ₹10) = ₹90, capped at ₹60. Over 22 days: ₹60 x 22 = ₹1,320 a month.
- Short errand of three hours on a two-wheeler: ₹15.
- Compare: a car monthly pass on the Electronic City flyover alone is ₹1,960 (see Electronic City Flyover Toll 2026: NHAI Takeover, Bike Rules).
How many metro parking slots are being added in total?
The Hans India puts the total at at least 2,424 two-wheeler slots and 87 car slots across the 12 stations. Adding up the station figures in Oneindia's list gives about 2,478 two-wheeler slots, so the exact count depends on the final tender. Either way, the largest lots are at Mantri Square (450), Chikkabidarakallu (355) and Madavara (328), and the smallest at IIM-B (55) and Nallurhalli (82).
Spread over 12 stations, that is roughly 200 two-wheelers per station on average. At a busy interchange, that can fill in the first hour of the morning peak. Treat parking as a backup, not a guarantee, when you plan a daily commute.
Pink Line parking and opening status
Four of the 12 stations are on the 7.5 km elevated Pink Line from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere along Bannerghatta Road. A July 2026 BMRCL tender for these four set a one-year licence and a ₹10 lakh fee per station, and BMRCL said parking will eventually come to all elevated Pink Line stations (Asianet Newsable).
The line itself is close to opening. The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety inspected it from 6 to 8 October 2026 and raised 36 observations, including fire safety, lifts and earthing. BMRCL filed its compliance on 15 October, and the authorisation report was expected within days. The Chief Minister has asked the Prime Minister's Office for an inauguration date. BMRCL plans up to six trains, every six minutes at peak and 10 minutes off-peak (Deccan Herald, 16 October). Why station parking matters when you buy a home
Most buyers judge a home by walking distance to a metro station. Paid parking widens that circle. A flat 2 to 4 km from a station with a parking lot can work as a metro home for a two-wheeler commuter, at about ₹660 a month in parking.
- Check that the station you plan to use actually has a lot. Several stations on the older lines have little or none.
- Check capacity against demand. 55 to 155 slots fill fast at busy stations; arrive early or plan a feeder bus.
- Two-wheeler park-and-ride suits homes just outside walking range, such as off Bannerghatta Road near Hulimavu and Kalena Agrahara, or off Tumakuru Road near Madavara.
- Your own apartment parking is a separate question. See Car Parking Charges in Apartments Bangalore: Law and Checks for what developers can charge.
Parking, walking or feeder: which suits your home?
How you reach the station decides which homes count as 'near the metro' for you. A simple way to think about it:
- Within about 1 km: walk. Parking does not matter, but check for a safe footpath and a direct station entry. See Upcoming Bengaluru Metro Stations: How to Judge Homes Within 1 km for how to judge this.
- About 1 to 4 km: ride a two-wheeler or cycle and park. This is where the new lots help most, and bicycles park free.
- Beyond about 4 km: a feeder bus or cab is often more practical than parking, especially if the station lot is small.
- Car commuters: only Mantri Square in this tender offers car parking. For most stations, a car-dependent household will not be able to park and ride.
What the new lots mean for each corridor
The 12 stations are spread across all four operating or near-operating lines, but they matter most in three places.
- Bannerghatta Road (Pink Line): four stations get lots at once, just as the line opens. For homes in Hulimavu, Arekere and Kalena Agrahara that sit a short ride from the road, this makes the new line usable from day one.
- Tumakuru Road (Green Line): Madavara and Chikkabidarakallu get two of the largest lots. That suits buyers in the newer layouts beyond Nagasandra, where homes are often more than a walk from the station.
- Whitefield side (Purple Line): Nallurhalli and Pattandur Agrahara get smaller lots, useful for residents of the side roads off ITPL Main Road and Whitefield Main Road.
- Central and Yellow Line stations (Mantri Square, Ragigudda, BTM Layout): these serve dense areas where parking near the station is otherwise hard to find.
