Updated 20 October 2026. We re-read the Deccan Herald reports listed below. This article goes further than what currently ranks: it lists every named location by division, explains why the published list has 24 names for 25 proposals, sets out the cancelled tenders and the tolled corridors, and says what each matters for nearby homes.

How many flyovers does Bangalore have?

Bengaluru currently has 42 flyovers and 28 underpasses, according to the Traffic Police letter. Registered vehicles have crossed 1.3 crore, and more than 2,000 are added daily (Deccan Herald, 11 September 2026). The letter, from the Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) to the GBA Chief Commissioner, came with GPS coordinates and asked the GBA to start feasibility studies.

Why 24 names for '25 flyovers'?

The Deccan Herald report says the Traffic Police submitted 25 locations, but its published list names 24. The full letter has not been made public, so we cannot say which location is missing or whether one site counts twice (for example, a stretch with two structures). We have reproduced the names exactly as published rather than guess the 25th.

Which flyover tenders were cancelled on 10 October?

A sub-committee found the tender documents mixed provisions of the central MoRTH guidelines and the state's KW-4 code. The UDD told B-SMILE not to issue letters of acceptance, to refund bidders' deposits and to re-tender (Deccan Herald, 10 October 2026). Works named in the report:

  • 0.5-km grade separator at MEI junction · to be re-tendered
  • 6.97-km flyover at Minerva Circle · to be re-tendered
  • 5.3-km elevated road from Hosur Road to Shoolay Circle · to be re-tendered
  • 1.5-km road from Kanakapura Road to Konanakunte Cross · to be re-tendered
  • 5.2-km flyover from Old Madras Road to Electronic City/Silk Board · to be re-tendered
  • A ninth project linking Old Madras Road and Hosur Road via Indiranagar · also to be re-tendered

The tolled elevated corridors

For the full B-SMILE corridor list, see Bengaluru Elevated Corridors 2026: 13 Projects and Tolls.

  • Yeshwantpur (Mathikere Cross)–Tin Factory, KR Puram · 28 km via IISc, Mekhri Circle, Jayamahal Road and Ulsoor Lake · ₹3,536.89 crore, build-own-operate-transfer, 30-year toll, 40% viability gap funding · tender invited (Deccan Herald, 19 Aug 2026)
  • Ragigudda Junction–Talaghattapura (Kanakapura Road) · 18.5 km, tolled · tender expected (Deccan Herald, 19 Aug 2026). More than 150 residents formed a human chain near Rose Garden on 11 October 2026 asking for Green Line improvements instead (Deccan Herald, 12 Oct 2026)

Is there a new flyover planned at Hebbal or Silk Board?

Hebbal: Hebbal Junction (ORR) and the Sanjayanagar K2 Bus Stop–Hebbal stretch are on the BTP proposal list. Separately, a 2.2-km short tunnel to bypass the Hebbal flyover is already under construction, with an elevated corridor at Mekhri Circle in the same package; see Hebbal Tunnel Project 2026: Route, Cost, Trees and Status.

Silk Board: the BTP list includes the Banashankari Road underpass stretch at Silk Board, and the 5.2-km Old Madras Road–Electronic City/Silk Board flyover is among the works now being re-tendered. Neither has a published date.

What happens next

A GBA official told Deccan Herald the proposal needs an assessment of traffic volume, cost and land availability before it moves forward (11 September 2026). Meanwhile the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) will prepare a new Comprehensive Mobility Plan in about a year, as projects worth nearly ₹1 lakh crore, including a tunnel road and 12 flyovers, sit at various stages. The 2024 BBMP infrastructure plan had proposed about 124 km of elevated corridors and short flyovers (Deccan Herald, 20 October 2026). In short: expect studies first, not cranes.

What it means for homes near the line

If you live or are buying near one of these junctions, the useful questions are about today's drive and a possible future construction phase, not a promised fix. A proposal at the preliminary stage can change shape, move or be dropped. Grade separators usually help through traffic more than local trips, and building one brings years of diversions to the homes right next to it. We make no prediction on prices.
