Konanakunte is a south Bengaluru locality in the Bommanahalli zone (Ward 195, PIN 560062) on Kanakapura Road. Wikipedia describes it as once a 'sleeping village' where avarekai, huchellu and ragi were grown, and whose landmark was Khoday's factory, an employer for local residents. It is now a metro-served residential district, but the Wikipedia entry also carries a caution worth repeating: it states that civic amenities such as roads, drainage, streetlights and medical facilities are inadequate in places and that water scarcity remains an issue. That text may be dated, so treat it as a prompt to verify on the ground rather than a current verdict.

Metro access

Konanakunte Cross is the first station south of Yelachenahalli on the Green Line's southern extension, which opened on 15 January 2021 (per Wikipedia). Property listings in this area frequently describe projects as opposite the metro station and next to the Forum South Bengaluru Mall, but these are marketing descriptions; confirm the distance and the mall on site.

From here, the line runs south to Doddakallasandra, Vajarahalli, Thalaghattapura and Silk Institute, and north through Jayaprakash Nagar and Banashankari towards the city core.

Prices and projects

PropertyPistol shows an average of about ₹6,700 per sq ft for Konanakunte, against Uttarahalli at about ₹5,270, Thurahalli at ₹5,290, Talaghattapura at ₹5,280, Chikka Hagade at ₹9,940, Anjanapura at ₹9,690 and Golahalli at ₹16,920. Another source we saw quoted about ₹10,900. As with neighbouring areas, the spread depends on whether the data set is dominated by older low-rise stock or newer apartments.

Large projects marketed in the Kanakapura Road belt show where new supply sits. Search results listed Vaishnavi Vistara at a ₹13,500 base rate, SKAV Madhura at about ₹10,500, Provident Park Square Solitaire at about ₹12,500 and Prestige Primrose Hills at about ₹12,930 per sq ft, all indicative asking prices. Property Point lists Prestige Primrose Hills as ready to move, with 1 and 2 BHK homes at ₹73 lakh-₹1.5 crore, on its page Prestige Primrose Hills Banashankari Off Kanakapura Road Talaghattapura. Those rates are well above the locality average, which shows how much the new-supply premium is.

Schools and hospitals

Wikipedia's Konanakunte article does not list schools, hospitals or malls, and we did not find a reliable named list elsewhere. Wikipedia's account of Kumaraswamy Layout, the neighbouring established area, names Delhi Public School South, Alpine School, SAGAR Hospital and Vasavi Hospital; those lie in the next neighbourhood north-west rather than in Konanakunte, so check their actual distance from your street.

Advantages

  • A Green Line station in an area priced well below Jayanagar and JP Nagar on the same line.
  • Kanakapura Road access and proximity to the Bannerghatta Road and Electronic City employment belts via NICE Road.
  • Both resale and new supply, so a choice of budgets.

Risks and trade-offs

  • Civic infrastructure and water supply. Wikipedia cites low civic amenities and water scarcity; ask the building about its Cauvery connection, tanker spend and borewell dependence.
  • Traffic. Kanakapura Road is a heavily used corridor and the stretch near the station can be congested at peak hours.
  • Mixed building quality. Older low-rise blocks and newer towers coexist, with different approval histories.
  • Price clarity. Portal averages differ by 60% or more, so negotiate against an all-inclusive price sheet.

A checklist for Konanakunte

  • Visit on a rainy weekday evening to see drainage and the road condition around your building.
  • Ask for the last 12 months of water and tanker bills from the association of a resale building.
  • Verify the e-khata and sanctioned plan; low-rise blocks sometimes carry unapproved floors.
  • Time the walk to Konanakunte Cross, including the road crossing.

Who it suits, and our view

Konanakunte suits first-time buyers and families working along Kanakapura Road or the Green Line who want a metro walk and a lower entry price than central south Bengaluru. It is not ideal for buyers who rank civic polish and amenities first.

Verdict: a practical, mid-priced choice where careful building-level diligence matters more than the locality label. We did not find reliable rent data and have not quoted any.
