Updated 23 October 2026. Our full corridor list stays at Bengaluru Elevated Corridors 2026: 13 Projects and Tolls; this update covers the re-tender and the neighbourhoods each project touches.

Why were they re-tendered?

The Urban Development Department directed B-SMILE to revise the bids, citing non-compliance with standard contracting norms (Deccan Herald, 22 October 2026). The six are among 11 projects the state Cabinet cleared in April, which together are estimated at ₹13,262 crore and cover 75.60 km across all five city corporations (Deccan Herald). For a buyer, the practical effect is a reset of the clock: award, mobilisation and construction all start later than they would have.

What else is in the pipeline?

  • To be re-bid within a week: a flyover along Indiranagar 100 Feet Road, a 5.2-km stretch from Sirsi Circle to Nayandahalli, and a short flyover on Kanakapura Road (Deccan Herald, 22 October 2026).
  • Tolled corridor 1: Yeshwanthpur (Mathikere Cross) to Tin Factory, KR Puram, about 28 km via IISc, Mekhri Circle, Jayamahal Road, St John's Church Road and Ulsoor Lake; estimated ₹3,536.89 crore with 40% viability gap funding and up to 30 years of toll (Deccan Herald, 19 August 2026). Homes: Kr Puram, Bangalore
  • Tolled corridor 2: Ragigudda junction on Marenahalli Main Road to Kanakapura Main Road (Thalaghattapura) via BWSSB Pipeline Road, 18.47 km, about ₹2,956 crore (Deccan Herald, 12 October 2026). Homes: Jp Nagar, Bangalore

Why are residents protesting?

On the weekend of 10 and 11 October, hundreds of residents formed human chains in Indiranagar and south Bengaluru (The News Minute, 12 October 2026, says Saturday 10 October; Deccan Herald, 12 October 2026, says Sunday). In Indiranagar, they objected to a 5.2-km flyover from Swami Vivekananda Road metro station to Madiwala on Hosur Road, about ₹900 crore, because its alignment runs along tree-lined 100 Feet Road, 80 Feet Road and CMH Road, which were recently white-topped; some residents have gone to the High Court (Deccan Herald, 12 October 2026).

In the south, residents opposed the Ragigudda–Kanakapura Road corridor because the two ends are already linked by the Green Line metro and because the alignment runs along a tree-lined BWSSB pipeline (Deccan Herald). The 'Dear DK' campaign asked the Deputy Chief Minister to cancel tenders for all 13 proposed elevated corridors and reallocate the budget (The News Minute). In all, the government has approved 13 flyover and elevated road projects of about 126 km, costing about ₹18,000 crore (Deccan Herald, 12 October 2026).

What it means if you are buying near one of these projects

  • Construction years matter more than opening day. A large elevated corridor can mean two to three years of diversions and dust outside your gate; ask for the project's construction schedule once it is awarded.
  • Check the alignment against your site. A home that faces a flyover deck or a ramp is a different product from one a few hundred metres away. Ask for the DPR drawings or the tender drawings.
  • Do not pay for a flyover that may change. Two corridors face organised opposition and a court challenge, and six projects have just been reset.
  • Kogilu Cross buyers in particular: the ₹1,026.66 crore corridor is the largest of the six. Homes near Kogilu Cross on Doddaballapura Road should plan for construction traffic once work starts.
