What does a RERA possession date mean?

It is the project completion date recorded with TNRERA. It is not the day you get keys. Handover comes after the building is finished and the paperwork is done, so ask the developer for the expected handover date in writing. How do you find a project on the TNRERA site?

Open rera.tn.gov.in and look for the registered projects list for the project's year. The year is in the RERA number.
Match the RERA number, project name and promoter. The name on the register can differ from the sales name.
Open the latest quarterly progress document, if one is shown.
Check the completion date again on the day you sign, as dates on the register can be updated.

Should you buy a project with a 2027 date?

It suits you if you want to move in soon and cannot wait for a 2029 launch. Stock can be thin at this stage, so check which sizes remain. Is the RERA date the same as the handover date?

No. It is the completion date on the register. Ask the developer for the handover date in writing.

Can I still buy in these projects?

Some, yes. Several show homes available and a few are sold out, as noted in each line. Availability changes, so confirm with the developer.

Why does the sales brochure show a different date?

Developers can quote their own target date, and it may differ from the register. Use the TNRERA date as your reference and ask the developer to explain any gap in writing.
