Updated 27 October 2026. Deccan Herald's page was not accessible to us; the case details below come from its headline and published summary and are labelled so. Progress figures come from the state's 22 October release.
What did the Supreme Court decide on 26 October 2026?
- Order: BMRCL may proceed with Blue Line construction; the court clarified that its earlier status-quo order would not block the work (Deccan Herald, 26 October 2026, summary).
- Bench: Justices Sanjay Kumar and Sanjeev Sachdeva, on BMRCL's plea (Deccan Herald, summary).
- The dispute: on 4 May 2026 the court had issued notice on a petition by Lakeview Tourism Corporation and ordered the disputed land kept as it was (Deccan Herald, summary).
- The land: about 6,712.97 sq m of the Lakeview project land at Hebbal, handed over to BMRCL in January 2025 (Deccan Herald, summary).
- BMRCL's position: about 84% of the corridor work is complete (Deccan Herald, summary). This appears to refer to a wider measure than Phase 2B alone; the state's own figure for the KR Puram–airport phase is 61.5%.
Blue Line Phase 2B status: how much is built?
Figures from the review chaired by Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda on 22 October 2026 (GBA and BMRCL releases, via NammaWard):
- KR Puram–airport (Phase 2B, 38.44 km): 61.5% overall.
- Hebbal–airport: U-girder erection 95%, station entry and exit work 41%, track 18.6 of 52.9 track-km laid.
- KR Puram–Kempapura: piling complete, piers 73%, U-girders 66%, track laying not started.
- Targets: airport–Hebbal by end-2027 and Hebbal–KR Puram in early 2028; the GBA release states an October–November 2027 ambition for Hebbal–airport.
- Silk Board–KR Puram (Phase 2A, 19.75 km): 87% overall, trial runs due by end-October, commissioning around mid-2027.
Hebbal to airport metro opening date
Plan around end-2027 for airport–Hebbal and early 2028 for the rest. Reports differ slightly: The Hindu quoted the minister on operations by October or November 2027, while Asianet Newsable said November 2027 is for trial runs only (Transclew, 23 October 2026, summarising both). A deadline table published by The New Indian Express lists March 2028 as the current target for the full corridor (Transclew). The minister attributed delays to tree-felling approvals, utility relocation and restricted working hours (NammaWard).
Blue Line stations around Hebbal
Phase 2B runs from KR Puram through Kasturi Nagar, Horamavu, HRBR Layout, Kalyan Nagar, HBR Layout, Nagawara, Veerannapalya, Kempapura and Hebbal, then north through Kodigehalli, Jakkur Cross, Yelahanka, Bagaluru Cross, Doddajala, Airport City and the airport terminals. The full Blue Line is 58.19 km with 29 stations, and Hebbal is planned as an interchange with the Orange and Red lines (Wikipedia, Blue Line). The 22 October release also mentions pedestrian connections and travelators at Hebbal to link metro phases with suburban rail (NammaWard).
What does the order mean for buyers near Hebbal?
- Lower legal risk at one site. A status-quo order on a key stretch is the kind of hurdle that can hold up a whole section; its clarification is good news for the Hebbal–airport timeline.
- Dates are still construction-led. Track laying on KR Puram–Kempapura had not begun as of 22 October. For homes in Nagawara, HBR Layout and Kalyan Nagar, early 2028 is the planning date.
- Hebbal is a hub, not just a station. With the Orange and Red lines approved to meet here (Wikipedia), Hebbal's long-run case rests on interchange access. Those lines are years away; price today's homes on today's roads.
- Airport belt: Kodigehalli, Jakkur Cross, Yelahanka and Bagaluru Cross stations matter most for north-side buyers. Pair this with the road picture: the Sadahalli underpass on the airport road is targeted for mid-2027. See Sadahalli Underpass: Signal-Free Airport Road by Mid-2027.
- Walking distance still decides value. Ridership on the existing network trails forecasts partly because of weak last-mile access; see Namma Metro Ridership Below Projections: CAG and Buyers.
