Updated 23 October 2026. We re-read the 22 October market report, Wise's AED-INR history and the Central Bank of Kuwait's rupee table, and converted five Bangalore listings into all six Gulf currencies. Our 19 October piece looked at the dollar; this one is for salaries paid in dirhams, riyals and dinars.
What happened to the rupee this month?
- 22 October close: ₹94.83 per dollar, after touching ₹94.33 in early trade (Business Standard, 22 October 2026).
- October so far: the rupee was up 1.06% for the month, helped by inflows linked to the Jio Platforms IPO and RBI measures to curb dollar demand (Business Standard).
- Since the start of the US–Iran conflict, the rupee is down 4.06% (Business Standard).
- Dirham view: Wise showed 1 AED at ₹25.80 on 23 October. Its six-month high was ₹26.37 on 9 October 2026 (Wise, read 23 October 2026).
- Near-term view from one analyst: a ₹94.50–95.25 range, with support near ₹94.25 (Dilip Parmar, HDFC Securities, quoted by Business Standard). Forecasts are opinions, not guidance.
Rupee rates for each Gulf currency (22 October 2026 close)
Five Gulf currencies are fixed to the dollar, so their rupee rate follows the dollar close. Kuwait's dinar is managed against a basket, so we use the central bank's own table.
- UAE dirham (peg 3.6725 per dollar): about ₹25.82.
- Saudi riyal (peg 3.75): about ₹25.29.
- Qatari riyal (peg 3.64): about ₹26.05.
- Omani rial (peg 0.3845): about ₹246.6.
- Bahraini dinar (peg 0.376): about ₹252.2.
- Kuwaiti dinar: the Central Bank of Kuwait lists 3.265 for 22 October 2026, which we read as dinars per ₹1,000, or about ₹306 per dinar (CBK, read 23 October 2026). Market quotes that day were about ₹304–306.
- These are mid-market figures. Your bank or exchange house will quote a little less per dirham after its margin.
What does ₹1 crore cost in dirhams, riyals and dinars?
- AED 3,87,270 (UAE).
- SAR 3,95,440 (Saudi Arabia).
- QAR 3,83,850 (Qatar).
- OMR 40,550 (Oman).
- BHD 39,650 (Bahrain).
- KWD 32,650 (Kuwait).
- Each ₹1 move in the dollar rate changes the dirham cost of ₹1 crore by about AED 4,040. Between Wise's 9 October high and its 23 October rate, the same ₹1 crore became about AED 8,240 dearer (our arithmetic).

Add the costs that are not in the price
In Bengaluru, budget roughly 5% stamp duty plus the additional duty and surcharge, a 2% registration fee, and 5% GST on an under-construction home (Karnataka IGR; CBIC). Confirm the stamp duty on the Kaveri portal before you register. Our calculator does the full sum in your currency: True Cost Calculator.
What a Gulf buyer should do now
- Do not try to time the rupee. On a construction-linked plan you pay in stages over years, so each tranche gets its own rate.
- Pay through banking channels into an NRE or FCNR(B) account, or direct from abroad. Homes paid this way keep the right to repatriate sale proceeds for up to two homes (RBI Master Direction No. 12, para 8.2).
- Compare the rate your provider actually gives you with the mid-market figure before a large transfer.
- If a booking amount is due within weeks, a near-term transfer is simpler than waiting for a better rate.
- Area guides for Gulf buyers: Whitefield, Devanahalli, Hebbal, Sarjapur Road, Varthur. Country desks: Gulf and Uae.
